When people bring laptops, or check emails in their bedroom, it weakens the association between work and bedtime. You may have difficulty transitioning from work-mode to sleep-mode.
DON’T WORK IN YOUR PAJAMAS
Even if you don’t leave the house during the workday, dress as if you were going into the office or to a meeting. This will not only get you in the right mindset for work, but it may also help you to get mentally and physically prepared for the day. Make sure you feel like your best, most productive self!
DON’T WORK IN THE LIVING ROOM
Try to avoid the television and other digital distractions, so you can focus on your work and getting things done.
DON’T TEXT, CHECK SOCIAL MEDIA , OR MAKE PERSONAL CALLS
Unless it’s an emergency, avoid placing and taking any personal calls, texting your friends and family, and avoid social media. For example; you get an Instagram notification, you check it and suddenly 45 minutes has gone by!
DON’T GET DISTRACTED
Keep clear boundaries at home during work hours. Pets and young children may not understand they cannot have your full, dedicated attention. Just because you are working from home doesn’t mean you are home. Having a separate work space, will help make the work-life distinction clearer.
